When painting a design on a motorcycle what do you paint first?

is it better to paint the design first and then paint the back color, or should you paint the back color then paint the design over top of it? and also, what are some good supplies to have to paint the design? (its a simple design I want, nothing complex)

next tape off the area, cutting your design out – be careful not to cut through the base paint.

you might need to do this several times depending on the colors your using – and your abilities as a painter.

After painting, pull the masking off while the paint is wet, this will give you a cleaner line, and no lifting of the paint.

Once it is dried you want to color sand the paint before applying the clearcoat. For this you want 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Use a garden hose and kep it trickling over the parts as you sand lightly just enough to knock down the edges.

Now you can clearcoat it, be sure to mix everything according to the humidity directions and for gods sake dont do any of this outdoors.
